We just got this delightful Baby Sleeping canvas in. We fell in love with the cow jumping over the moon. We thought it was very sweet. I would be tempted to use a darker blue silk thread with metallic highlights for the sky. And of course, I would probably do skipped tent.Sunday, November 14, 2010

A Wedding Sampler
Kathy stitched this lovely wedding sampler using the template for our Beginner's class. She chose her own stitches and used a variety of white threads. The initial provides the only color. She did a wonderful job; I'm sure her daughter will treasure it for years to come.We have several people who have decided to stitch multiple canvases based on the Beginner's Sampler canvas. In fact, our advanced beginner class (which will be offered in January or February) is also based on that template. But wait to you see all the different stitches and threads. I just have a few more stitches to finish it.

Lindsay's Third Pillow
Today, I downloaded additional pictures on the same photo memory card. This time, the photo of Lindsay's third pillow (bows) was able to be read by my computer. So, since I only posted her other daughters' pillows the other day, I wanted to post this one, too.Once again, the canvas was designed by our customer painter. I thick the bows are lovely. Lindsay did a lovely job stitching all the pillows.
Helen's Santa Stocking
Helen has been working on this stocking for several years. Of course, she has done quite a few other things during the same time. But she listed the stocking as one of her Resolution Stitching projects for 2010 and was determined to finish it. The stitches are just beautiful. She used a Reverse Basketweave for Santa's bag. The hearts are Rhodes hearts and the beads and bells are real.Helen found the cord and then used one of our finishers to complete the stocking. She even included the year on the back.
This stocking is truly an heirloom and was well worth the wait.

Thanksgiving Needlepoint
Gretchen just amazes me. She has stitched pillows or pictures for virtually every holiday. She just finished her wonderful turkey pulling a cart full of vegetables. Look at hte fabulous background -- the blue makes the orange of the pumpkin just pop!I love the holiday pillows and pictures. I know I always love to bring out our Christmas stockings and other Christmas ornaments. How much fun it would be to be able to pull out needlepoint for each occasion.

Lindsay's Pillows
We were delighted to see Lindsay last week at Stitch and chat. She was kind enough to bring in her finisherd pillows. She had found one canvas that had button and then had our custom painter design a pillow with dots and bows. Each of her daughters has a nickname/theme: dots, buttons, and bows. Unfortunately, although I took pictures of all three pillows only two of the photos came out. I thought digital cameras were supposed to alleviate the problem of messed up pictures!
I'm sure that her daughters will treasure these pillows for years to come.

Colors of Praise
Today, we were hanging the canvases from the Colors of Praise trunk show. Marie Barber, the designer, is an accomplished artist who has just started to design for needlepoint. Her canvases are lovely with luscious colors and beautiful designs. We were impressed with the detail in the canvases, particularly since so many of them are on #13 mesh.
She has beautiful floral and fabulous birds. On the right, I posted two canvases == one of spoonbills and one of an egret. I always think that birds are hard to paint correctly. Hers are stunning.

Judy's Resolution Stitching
Last year, we encouraged you to commit to finishing some of your projects. Recently, we have started to see these projects come back for finishing. Judy's belt was one of her resolution projects so she is way under the December 31 deadline. But I thought it was important to remind you to keep on stitching. The end of the year will be here before we know it.

Daffodil Pillow
Isn't this pillow stunning? Our customer brought in her own trim and fabric and we sent it off to one of our finishers. It is just exquisite. We have some finishers that we recommend letting them make the fabric and trim choices. But for those of you who have your own vision, you can bring in your own fabrics and trim. Our finishers will then be able to match your idea of what the finished product should look like.

Raymond Crawford Canvases
I just wanted to show a few more of the Raymond Crawford Canvases. The snowflakes come in red and green and pink, too. We all love the Santa from the Santa canvas; think what a great mail basket it would make. There is also a menorah for Chanukah. And of course, stitchers don't always stitch for themselves. But why not stitch "I'd rather be Stitching?"

Christmas Finishing
Of course, there are always those people who manage to get their stitched items in way before the Christmas finishing deadline. So of course, we've started to get those canvases back.
On the left are some fun ornaments. I love the whale watching ornament and Santa going down the chimney. Of course, the tennis player would love a tennis ball ornament.

Halloween Stitching
I arranged to have the Raymond Crawford Trunk show in October because he has such a wonderful selection of Halloween canvases. I've posted a few more to remind you that there is still time to get your Raymond Crawford canvases while we have the trunk show.
Raymond has a wonderful selection of holiday canvases. His colors are bright and most of his canvases are whimsical. Let us know if you want one before the show leaves.
This would be a good time to be stitching for next Halloween.

Suzanne M's Tallis Bag
Suzanne M completed this beautiful tallis bag. She did a beautiful job. She actually completed two but for some reason, I was unable to open the image of the second tallis bag.
We happen to love this tallis bag. The scene of Jerusalem provides wonderful opportunities to use different stitches to keep the task more interesting.

Vanessa's Frog
We have enjoyed this canvas over the years. It's a frog prince; there was a frog princess, too. Unfortunately, the designer has retired so it is no longer available.
But Lori purchased one of our last ones. She will add it to her collection of needlepointed Christmas ornaments.

Marilyn's Halloween Pillow
Marilyn was able to pick up her finished Halloween pillow in loads of time for Halloween. She used Kreinik's glow in the dark thread for the ghosts. Marilyn reported that her grandsons were so excited to see the ghosts glow even as she was stitching it. The pillow came just before her grandsons came to stay for the weekend. Marilyn placed the pillow under a light so that the ghosts would truly glow! They just loved it.
Marilyn is a classic stitcher who primarily uses the basketweave stitch. Recently, she has started to use more threads which enhance the design. Cooper Oaks pieces are wonderful canvases for the tent stitcher because there is so much detail.

Gretchen's Eliza B's
Gretchen really hates to give up her Eliza B's flip flops. This pair just arrived back from Voila and Gretchen hopes there is still time to wear them before the frost.
